Office Design and the Pursuit of Happiness

With workplace design, some attempts have been made to promote fun and social connection (think slides, sandboxes, and ping pong tables). But the conversation is shifting. Companies, and even whole countries, aspire to a broader, more enduring outcome than productivity or engagement.

This emerging conversation is around the idea of happiness. Real happiness—and a meaningful life—is not a short-term emotion. It is an enduring state that can lead to productive, engaged, healthy employees.

Can the office become a driver of happiness and meaningful work?

We think so.

Discover how workspace, happiness, and meaning in work lead to engaged, high-performing, and healthy employees.

Learning Points

  • The outcomes happiness influences, such as engagement, performance, and health
  • Two aspects of the work experience that affect happiness
  • How thoughtful workplace design can promote happiness and meaning in work, leading to engaged, high-performing, healthy employees
