About the Speaker
Pat Carr has 30 years of facility, fleet and personnel management specializing in safety, security and crisis management. He is a retired Air Force Major and currently an assistant city manager/director of public safety for a large Chicago suburb. Pat currently leads the effort for COVID planning, response and mitigation. He has implemented a contact tracing program that has assisted in mitigation efforts and contingency planning to maintain vital services.
Learning Points
- Keeping track of the virus. Some employees may not know they have been exposed to someone infected with COVID-19. Contact tracing tracks down any exposed employee and alerts them of their exposure so they can take proper precautions before they spread the virus further.
- Mitigating the virus internally. Controlling the virus within an organization ensures that workers are healthy and able to continue operations.
- Stopping the spread of the disease. When contact tracing is done quickly, case investigators can keep confirmed and probable infectious employees away from the workplace before they are contagious.
- Having an emergency plan and contingency plans within an emergency plan, is critical for any business. What this pandemic has shown is how many businesses failed to plan properly for a critical incident.
