Directions
To create and maintain a high performance facility management organization, it requires the understanding of the importance of having one in terms of the benefits to both FM and to the overall organization. Secondly, it requires the understanding of the framework for which to create a high performance organization.
The six categories that make-up the framework are:
- Leadership
- Planning
- Customer Focus
- Process Management (Operations and Maintenance)
- Workforce Development
- Measurement
With an understanding of the need and framework, the presenter will show you how to get started on creating your own high performance facility management organization.

Presenter - Mark Sekula, Facility Futures
Mark Sekula, FMP, LEED-AP, CFM, IFMA Fellow, is President of Facility Futures, Inc. a facility management consulting firm in Milwaukee. With over 35 years of facility management experience, he has served as a facilities management practitioner and as an FM consultant.
A Certified Facility Manager since 1993, Mr. Sekula has served on the board of the International Facility Management Association’s (IFMA) Southeast Wisconsin Chapter and as a director on the IFMA International Board of Directors. He founded the IFMA Facility Management Consultants Council and has served as an officer of the Southeast Wisconsin IFMA Chapte. Mr. Sekula also co-authored the recently published book titled, “The Facility Manager’s Field Guide”.
Mr. Sekula holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Architecture and Urban Planning and a certificate from the Kellogg Management Institute-Management Certificate Program at NorthwesternUniversity.
